Winter activities

Morzine - Portes du Soleil

Morzine is twinned with Avoriaz and is part of the vast Portes du Soleil ski area. An area which spans the Franco-Swiss border and takes in 12 separate ski stations to offer almost unrivalled variety in skiing and boarding for all levels.

With over 650 KM’s of Piste and more off piste on top – the range of skiing and boarding as you roam over the border into Switzerland is simply vast… and all covered by the same lift pass, making for incredible value! Morzine and Avoriaz benefit from a northerly location, in fact they are two of the most northern resorts in France. They therefore enjoy good snow cover and very reliable conditions all season. The area is one of the prettiest ski areas in the world and has plenty of tree runs, open piste and high altitude slopes all levels. That is why so many people come back year-on-year. Activities to do in Morzine when you’re not skiing.

More info on Morzine

Morzine is a very pretty village with excellent facilities, numerous bars and cafes with boutique shopping to keep the non-skiers entertained. A nice day trip away from the ski fields is to Saint Jean D’aulps.

This charming, almost cute, little resort is part of the same ski area and connected by the area’s shuttle bus.

The traditional nature of Morzine is very evident in its facilities, architecture and frendliness, resulting in a very pleasant village to stay in.

Social Ski Hosting

For those that prefer to ski in company…

Social Ski Hosting allows skiers and boarders to join friendly ski groups suited to their ability and to get an insight into the resort’s best ski areas. It can help you avoid the lift queues and seek out the best restaurants for lunch or apres ski afterwards! It is a great way to meet other likeminded skiers and boarders and enjoy the mountain together.

We do not physically accompany guests on the mountain, but our hosts and Reps will be on hand from the moment you arrive to answer any questions you may have, and once in resort they will help you with pre-booked lift passes and fast-track you as best they can through the ski shops.

In the mornings our Winter Hosts will help you connect with other hotel clients for you to ski or board with. They will direct ski groups towards the best ski areas and snow conditions of the day, but please remember that their advice is unqualified and must be treated as such. If you would like a professional mountain guide these can be arranged for an additional supplement in resort. Our Winter Hosts will arrange lunch stops so that groups can meet up, (if they wish), and socialise together. In the evenings our Hosts will never be far from a chalet or hotel bar or on hand to arrange social drinks and chat about the day’s skiing or boarding.

Please ask for details of our Social Skiing service on arrival at reception.
